Marcan Love Wins by 8 1/2 Lengths!
Marcan Love (Tacitus-Swamp Pass Alley by Quality Road) dominated Race 1 at Laurel Park on April 5th. Martin Chuan was aboard for the win, trained by James Lawrence.
We added Volatility to the Marcano team in March 2024 after carefully researching her pedigree and determining that she had a bright future — particularly on grass at approximately a one-mile distance.
Imagine our surprise when, after claiming the now five-year-old mare for $50K, we discovered that she also has a high probability of becoming an exceptional broodmare!
After experiencing moderate success on the track in 2024, with one win and three in-the-money finishes out of eight races, we decided to address some underlying concerns that may have affected her performance.
Volatility underwent surgery at New Bolton Center, where a non-malignant abscess on her flank was removed, along with a small chip in her left knee, which was arthroscopically extracted. Either issue — or both — could certainly have impacted her racing ability.
For now, Volatility is enjoying some well-earned downtime, turned out at EQB in East Fallowfield, PA, where she’s getting the chance to relax and recover.
She’ll return to training in March under Chuck Lawrence at Fair Hill, ready to take on the next chapter of her career.
