Yo Paul is crushing it down at OBS! His official timed breeze this morning was 9 4/5 seconds, galloped out in 20 3/5 seconds and finished in 33 2/5 seconds. One of the top results so far at OBS!
Yo Paul is Hip #332 at OBS in Ocala, FL.

We bought this colt, originally named “Mighty Souper” and changed his name to “Yo Paul.” Having grown up and raised our family in Philly- the Yo! seemed natural! At the time I was reading a book about St. Paul and his life and that combined with the fact that I hoped to entice Paul Sharp into representing us in the 2025 OBS sale, led me to rename him “Yo Paul”, which coincidently also roughly translates to “I’m Paul” in Espanol.
Having watched the 2021 Forego Stakes, a G1 at Saratoga, where Yaupon was attacked in the deep stretch by Firenze Fire and somehow remained focused enough to prevail to the wire, I was set on coming home with a freshman-year colt from him!
He has progressed much as his father did, and under the skilled breaking of Mary Lightner and her team at Oak Ridge, he has now gone to Paul Sharp for breeze training and sale consignment.
Absolutely cruised in his rehearsal breeze over the Ocala track last Wednesday in 10.1 with a strong, long-striding gallop-out.
His dam “Mighty Souper” was nominated this year for Florida broodmare of the year due to the many accomplishments of Yo Paul’s half-brother “Forever Souper,” himself nominated for Florida Horse of the Year as a Champion older Male/Male turf pro, winning 5 out of 8 starts in 2024 and he’s $4,000 short of a career $500K in winnings!
Yo!! Check out Yo Paul at the upcoming OBS March Two Year Olds in Training Sale!
